Catholic schools in Oakland require “morality pledge” on the part of all teachers

In San Francisco, 20% of students attending Catholic schools are not from Catholic families. It will be interested to see how they respond to this move on the part of a nearby diocese and whether Catholic schools remain as popular among parents as a private alternative.

Educators in the East Bay must sign morality pledge.

Educators at East Bay Catholic schools must sign a new contract Friday with the Diocese of Oakland pledging to conform to church teachings outside the workplace – leaving some, particularly non-Catholics, wrestling with a professional and moral dilemma.
